No question has perplexed me more then, "what is it to be a 'man'?" when I was growing up there were a limited group of "Aussie" types, none of which I fitted. In many cultures there is a tension between the warrior and the scholar. In my country the warrior (sportsman) is dominate. In Chinese culture the scholar (white collar worker) culturally dominates. This exhibition is an explanation of the differences to an Australian multi-cultural audience. The "types" for this project were distilled from Australian (geographic) and Chinese (language) cinema. For this work was awarded a Master of Arts from RMIT University. The full text is available in the RMIT library and the national repository of student exegesis and thesis works.
This project was exhibited at Federation Square Atrium, Melbourne from Australia day to Chinese New Year 2011.
